Jack Theis Shoots for Perfection

posted Jul 26, 2012, 9:05 AM by Peter Lucas
Last Tuesday July 24, 2012, Jack shot a perfect round of skeet during the summer skeet league at Golden Gun Club.  Jack shot 25 for 25 the second of the two rounds we shot for league score that evening.  This is the first time that Jack has shot a perfect round, so we performed the traditional ritual for that occasion, his team members lined up and when Jack threw his cap into the air, we all shot it. It is now a wall hanger. Dan, the club manager, awarded Jack a patch embroidered “25 straight”.  He can proudly wear it on his shooting vest, if he ever he gets one.

Jack came to skeet shooting a little late in life and, like me, did not demonstrate innate shotgun shooting ability.  It is said that “Some have talent and the rest of us have to practice.”  Well, for several years Jack practiced.  He hired a shooting coach, listened to what he was told, and shot hundreds of targets.  This season Jack has been consistently shooting in the low twenties and has several 24s.  Those of us who have been watching Jack knew that the perfect round was going to come and last Tuesday, it did.

Congratulations Jack!
